Monday morning marked the beginning of something a lot of locals have been waiting for. The week of May 3-8 was designated as Football Week in the Parkland back in the early winter. The winning 'Riderville' community will receive $25,000 in funding to use for all of minor sports in Yorkton, says Jason Farrell, Riderville committee member, adding it isn't limited to the sport of football, but all minor-league games. Saskatchewan Roughrider supporters got together for breakfast at the Yorkton Cornerstone Credit Union along with a flag raising at city hall to start the festivities. The week concludes with the annual Football Night in Saskatchewan fundraiser Saturday evening at the St. Mary's Ukrainian Cultural Centre.
