Correction by RCMP: Spiritwood detachment investigating collision

The driver of the vehicle is not deceased, as reported earlier.

Spiritwood RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

SPIRITWOOD — Earlier today RCMP issued a release stating that they were investigating a fatal single vehicle rollover on a rural road near Witchekan Lake First Nation. They have now issued a correction. The driver of the vehicle was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance to hospital with serious injuries. He is not deceased as previously reported. Saskatchewan RCMP Media Relations says it sincerely apologizes for this error.

The earlier release indicates that on April 27 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Spiritwood RCMP received a report of a rollover and responded along with Spiritwood Fire Department and EMS. The driver of the vehicle was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance to hospital. He has been identified as a 51-year-old male from Spiritwood.

The passenger of the vehicle was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious in nature.
