Team Sask joins Literacy Donation Program at Winter Games

Team Sask, Canada Games Host Society, supports Literacy Donation Program at Charlottetown Library Learning Centre.

REGINA - Team Saskatchewan, and the Canada Games, are giving back in PEI.

Team Sask Chef de Mission Mark Bracken, along with female hockey players Jada Johns and Julia Duke, joined the Canada Games Host Society and members of other provinces at the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre as part of the Canada Games for Literacy Donation Program.

“(It is) just a great day,” said Bracken while taking in the great event Thursday morning. “(It is) an opportunity for athletes to give back to kids to help literacy on the island. We’re proud to be part of it and it’s good to be here.”

Young families filled the library to meet and interact with the athletes. There were opportunities for athletes to read to the children, spend time drawing and colouring together, and there was even face painting and balloon animal stations set up.

“It’s the opportunity for Canada Games athletes to give back to the community,” Bracken added. “A great cause and we’re proud to be part of it.”
