CANORA - Presenter Anara Arcand with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency’s (SPSA) Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness Public Education program spoke to Canora Junior Elementary School students on May 9.
The presentation was geared toward students in kindergarten to Grade 4 with a focus on fire safety, fire prevention and overall emergency preparedness in the school, in the community, and at home.
Members of the Canora Fire Department were also at the school to show the students the different kinds of equipment they use, the gear that they wear, and to help them understand what to do in an emergency. They brought the fire truck to the school and students were given a grand tour both inside and outside of the truck.
Students had the opportunity to learn about safety from “Sparky the Fire Dog” who is the mascot for the Saskatchewan Public Safety Fire Safety program.
CJES thanks Anara Arcand and the Canora Fire Department for their support in fire safety education with and for its students.
