CANORA - Twenty Grade 3 and 4 students have become a part of the Canora Junior Elementary School Beading Club. Students have been meeting once a week, taught by Mrs. Pamela Stevens, parent volunteer at CJES.
“Mrs. Stevens has taken a passion and talent that is near and dear to her heart and shared it with our students,” said Shawna Stangel, CJES principal.
This was Stevenson’s second year supporting the school’s Beading Club.
This year the students made a beaded key chain. This included learning how to thread a needle, different beading techniques, tying knots, and the skills necessary to complete this beading task. “CJES is very thankful to Mrs. Stevenson for her time, talents, and teachings,” said Stangel. “Our students are so very lucky to be learning and experiencing Indigenous culture in a very authentic way.”
