YAGELNISKI - At the age of 58 years, Curley Yagelniski passed away on September 3, 2015. Curley was born on September 29, 1956 in Canora, SK to Joe and Jean Yagelniski.

He was welcomed home by four siblings, Christine, Angie, Lovern, and Marlene, and was later joined by Murray, Robin, and Clifton.

He grew up on the family farm in Saskatchewan, where his work ethic and family values were instilled. Life on the farm wasn’t easy, but it was rewarding. After graduating high school, Curley sought his first employment opportunity in The Pas, MB, driving a log truck. His next job was working with his cousin, Orest Lazaruk, at Eastside Gravel in Yorkton, SK. In 1978, wanting a change of scenery, he embarked on a new adventure to Terrace, BC, which would turn out to be ‘home’ for the rest of his life.

Upon arriving in Terrace, he began a thirty-seven year career driving a fuel truck with Tymoschuk Agencies and Northwest Fuels. In the summer of 1979, he met the love of his life, Christine. They enjoyed off-roading in the jeep, playing baseball, and spending time with friends. They were married in Yorkton, SK on July 28, 1984.

Three years later, they made the tough decision to trade the Corvette in for a Blazer to accommodate a car seat for their first child, Travis. They received an early Christmas present in December 1988, with the arrival of their daughter, Kayla, on Christmas Eve. In April 1991, they were blessed with one more child, Brandy. Curley’s devout love for his family motivated him to work hard and provide a wonderful life for them.

Fond memories were created when the children had the opportunity to accompany him on the road; whether it be trips up North in the fuel truck or to Saskatchewan for the annual family vacation. In addition to spending time with family, Curley’s other passions included quadding and camping. He took great pride in maintaining his own yard, as well as ensuring his children’s yards (and needs) were always taken care of. Driving a truck for Northwest Fuels was much more than that for Curley, he received much gratification from ensuring all his friends up North were well looked after.

Curley will be missed dearly by his wife, Christine, his son, Travis, and daughters, Kayla and Brandy, who were his greatest source of love, pride and joy. Also saddened by his sudden loss are his siblings and their families, his co-workers, and countless customers who became dear friends.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. from Sacred Heart Parish, Terrace, BC, with Fr. Xavier Royappan S.A.C. as Celebrant. Interment followed in the Terrace City Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to sign an on-line guest book for the Yagelniski family at www.lesonsfuneralhome.ca. Arrangements were entrusted to MACKAY’S FUNERAL SERVICES LTD, Terrace, BC.
