KAMSACK — Up to June 24, the Kamsack Fire Department responded to three calls for the month, with two of those being false alarms. The other call was to a downed power line on June 17, which occurred on Highway 8, one mile south of Kamsack.

The KFD Fire Chief Ken Thompson said, “June 13, we attended the Kamsack RCMP rollover demo held at the Kamsack Composite Institute. We showed the students our Jaws of Life and other rescue tools used in vehicle extrication. The Kamsack Times covered this in a story.”

As part of continued community engagement efforts, the KFD hosted a pancake breakfast on June 21.

The fundraising lotto, benefitting the KFD, was drawn on June 23 with three happy winners — one from Canora and two from Kamsack — receiving gas and grocery prizes.

This division of protective services will once again oversee the Canada Day fireworks show.

Thompson says the team will be undertaking a grain rescue course in July as part of their ongoing efforts to be ready for all emergencies when the alarm bell rings.

“We wish everyone a safe summer, and please don't drink and drive. Also, be aware of fire safety while enjoying the outdoors and your backyard,” added the Kamsack fire chief.
