Yorkton, the University of Regina and Saskatchewan were all very well-represented May 7 at an international competition in Indiana May 6.

Musician Scott Richmond will perform in Yorkton tomorrow. The Gravelbourg, SK, native says music is something that just seemed to come naturally. “I think it was something I was born to do, but I never got my start in it until I was 19,” he said.

One youth has been arrested and several other people are under investigation for a home invasion and assault that ended with a high-speed police chase in a downtown residential area. On May 15, police received a call about a home invasion.

The breather between Poppy campaigns for the Yorkton Legion is brief as one winds down and the next begins. In 2015 the local branch of the venerable veterans organization raised $33,161, $19,086 from poppies and $14,075 from wreaths.

Premier Brad Wall announced today that Doug Moen, deputy minister to the premier is stepping down after seven years in that role. Moen’s last day as deputy minister is June 30.
