Due to extreme wildfire hazards in northern Saskatchewan, the Ministry of Environment is recommending no non-essential travel to the La Ronge area including Air Ronge, Sucker River, Wadin Bay, Stanley Mission and Nemeiben.

The third annual Springside Summer Sizzle was held Saturday at Springside Lions Park. The day began at 8 a.m. with Whitesand Wildlife hosting a pancake breakfast. A trade show ran throughout the day.

The burrowing owl is in trouble. The population of the bird species has been on a rapid decline, and the Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre, based in Moose Jaw, wants to reverse that decline by educating people about the small predators.
