$3,000 worth of fuel stolen from school vehicle tanks

An employee of Northern Lights School division was dismissed for inappropriate use of credit card.

REGINA — Three school divisions reported losses of public money during the second quarter of the 2022-23 school division fiscal year (Dec. 1, 2022, to February 2023).

Horizon School Division reported $3,043 worth of fuel was stolen from school vehicle tanks in Ituna and Punnichy. The theft was reported to RCMP.

A laptop belonging to Good Spirit School Division was stolen from a hotel while an employee was on travel status. The value of the device is $1,200. A police report was filed and the password on the unit was altered remotely.

Inappropriate use of a vehicle fleet credit card to the tune of $500 resulted in the dismissal of an employee of the Northern Lights School Division. The funds have not yet been uncovered.

The Ministry of Education has tabled the report to the RCM Committee on Public Accounts.
