Yorkton Council unanimously approved its 2016 Asphalt Paving Program tender at its regular meeting Monday.

The City of Yorkton has numerous roadways that require asphalt replacement. The 2016 Public Works operating budget has $550,000 available for this purpose. The Public Works asphalt tender closed on Friday, June 17, 2016 with one bid received from Fedorowich Construction of Yorkton, explained Brian Stanicki- Assistant Director of Public Works, with the City.

“Roadways chosen for recapping this year were selected based on an asphalt condition assessment,” he said.

“Consideration was taken to ensure that all underground City infrastructures have previously been repaired or replaced to minimize future repairs.”

There were 13 streets selected this year for the 2016 recap program. These streets include;

• Victoria Avenue - Darlington to Duncan

• Victoria Avenue - Duncan to Smith

• Victoria Avenue & Smith Street (partial intersection)

• Catherine Street – Myrtle to Betts

• Catherine Street – Betts to First

• Sixth Avenue - Smith to Broadway

• King Street – 5th to Manitoba

• King Street- Fourth to Fifth

• Allanbrooke Drive - Parkview to Northview

• Roslyn Avenue - Park to High street

• Tupper Avenue - Cameron to King

• Tupper Avenue - King to Logan

• Feitz Street - Franko to Mayhew

“Fedorowich bid for the project was $551,130 (excluding GST),” said Stanicki.

“Considering the fact that there was only one bidder, it is unlikely that retendering or postponing the project will result in more bidders or better pricing,” he added.
