New line located northwest of Regina will carry power from Chinook Power Station
The 44-km Condie to Belle Plaine transmission line is now energized, helping to increase reliability and meet growing demands for power in Saskatchewan.
"This new transmission line will deliver reliable baseload power from the new Chinook Power Station to the growing Regina region,” said Kory Hayko, SaskPower Vice-President, Transmission & Industrial Services. “It will also help us deliver power from planned renewable generation facilities in Southwest Saskatchewan to customers further north and east.”
Construction began on the $36-million project in the summer of 2018, concurrently with the 200-km Pasqua to Swift Current transmission line. Work on that project is ongoing, with line stringing currently underway. This work will be completed by summer 2019, in time for Chinook to come online.
