The Preeceville and District Mushers’ Rendezvous committee has been preparing for months for the annual Rendezvous scheduled for January 29, 30 and 31.

During a recent meeting, a report was given that the memorial tree was a huge success. Names were recited of those who had a Christmas bulb purchased and lit up on the tree located at the Main Street parking lot.

The buttons for the Rendezvous weekend have been picked up and will be distributed for sale at various businesses. The committee has been working on posters and advertisements.

Preparing the Saturday night supper will be spearheaded by Darlene Walker and she will be assisted by representatives of several church groups. Jeannette Jaques will head the Sunday supper with some volunteer help.

Both Preeceville and Sturgis schools are selling paper dogs in a contest for which prizes will be given out.

A schedule of door workers and gate workers has been organized. The talent show has been organized for Friday night.

The committee emphasized that the annual Rendezvous is a world-class event featuring six- and 10-dog sled races. The weekend will include many more events for the whole family. There will be a talent show, suppers, a dance (Saturday), hockey games and some exciting events for children, said organizers. It will truly be a memorable event to attend.
