Death at Kawacatoose First Nation leads to second degree murder charge

PUNNICHY - Around 8:30 a.m. Nov. 26, Punnichy RCMP responded to a report of an injured person at a residence on the Kawacatoose First Nation.

One injured adult male was located at the residence and transported to hospital in Saskatoon. He died late Friday evening.

A second adult male at the scene was arrested in relation to this incident. The male was transported to hospital in Regina for treatment of injuries and was released. As a result of investigation, the second adult male, Eric Charles Favel (1988-12-31) from Kawacatoose First Nation, is charged with one count, second degree murder, section 235(1) of the Criminal Code, in relation to the death of Thomas Dustyhorn.

Favel appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit continues to investigate with the assistance of Punnichy RCMP, Saskatoon and Yorkton General Investigative Section, Regina and Saskatoon Forensic Identification Services, and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Division Criminal Analytical Section.
