The 44 skaters who are members of the revived Norquay Figure Skating Club were on the ice on February 28 for their year-end carnival.
It has been several years since the community has had an active skating club, but during the winter, thanks to the efforts of Heather Turnbridge-Jaeb, Nicole Korpusik, Kaeley Kish and Melissa Cznornobay, it was made possible again, said a parent.
The Stage 4/5 skaters, Sierra Dahlin, Alexa Olson and Kobe Johnson, performed to Thunderstruck.
Jesse Lukey, Tobbi Effa, Eva Agar, Emerson Westerlund, Chesney Westerlund, Dameon Lillebo, Liam Kish, Xavria Ramsay, Stevie Effa, Kaylee Auchstaetter, Jacob Johnson, Sawyer Northrop and Nate Korpusik, who are Stage 1 skaters, performed to Surfin’ USA.
The Pre-Can group, Jax Griffith, Easton Will, Gracelynn Peters, Peyton Holinaty, Gage Agar, Emmarie Holinaty and William Salisbury, skated to The Twist.
The Stage 2 skaters, comprised of Lily Kish, Sarah Lukey, Ty Northrop, Reese Reine, Bristol Lindgren and Makayla Shankowsky, skated to California Gurls.
Lexi Lindgren, Presley Vogel, Rowyn Johnson, Charlie Griffith, Emmett Lukey, Lane Butterfield, Paighton Burns, Mia Butterfield, Ava Shelenko and Tessa Reine, who are the Stage 3 skaters, performed to Jailhouse Rock.
Another One Bites the Dust was the tune to which the Stage 1 and 2 boys performed. They were: Nate Korpusik, Liam Kish, Dameon Lillebo, Jesse Lukey, Jacob Johnson, Matthew Radchuk and Dominick O’Soup.
The Pre-Can boys, Jax Griffith, Easton Will, William Salisbury and Gage Agar, skated to Eye of the Tiger.
Summer Johnson, Ashlyn Olson and Abby Robinson, who are the Stage 4 skaters, performed to Single Ladies.
Emmarie Holinaty, Gracelynn Peters and Peyton Holinaty, who are the Pre-Can girls, skated to Fireflies.
Cheerleader was the tune to which the Stage 3 girls performed. They were: Charlie Griffith, Lexi Lindgren, Presley Vogel, Rowyn Johnson, Mia Butterfield, Ava Shelenko, Paighton Burns and Tessa Reine.
The Stage 1 girls, Stevie Effa, Chesney Westerlund, Sawyer Northrop, Eva Agar, Emerson Westerlund, Kaylee Auchstaetter, Xavia Ramsay and Tobi Effa, skated to Rock Around the Clock.
Bristol Lindgren, Lily Kish, Makayla Shankowsky, Dominick O’Soup, Ty Northrop, Reese Reine, Matthew Radchuk and Sarah Lukey, who are the Stage 2 skaters, performed to Stayin’ Alive.
The Stage 3/4 boys, who are Emmett Lukey, Kobe Johnson and Lane Butterfield, skated to I Love Rock and Roll, while the Stage 4 /5 girls, comprised of Alexa Olson, Abby Robinson, Ashlyn Olson, Sierra Dahlin and Summer Johnson, skated to Shake it Off.
All the skaters joined in on a grand finale to end the carnival.
