SASKATOON — A 22-year-old man was arrested where Saskatoon Police Service officers had to deploy a conducted energy weapon in order to subdue the suspect.
At around 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, police attended to a residence in the 2000 block of Wilson Crescent following a 9-1-1 call of a domestic dispute.
Responding officers had to force their way inside the home after observing that a female was being assaulted inside.
The male suspect was aggressive, met responding officers at the door, and resisted arrest despite demands to stand down.
That’s when the CEW was deployed to pacify the suspect and he was taken into custody. The suspect was under the influence of an intoxicant.
He was assessed by Medavie Health Services personnel at the scene before being transported to SPS for detention.
The Saskatoon man is now facing Assault and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest charges. This incident, where a CEW was deployed, will be reviewed in accordance with SPS policy.
