Residents give Santa a warm welcome

The floats of Infinity Events & Décor, and PuroClean Restoration won the special awards

SASKATOON — Hundreds of children and adults braved Sunday's -13 C weather with wind chills reaching -19 to line the streets from 19th Avenue to the City’s Central Business District to witness the 30th Annual Saskatoon Santa Claus Parade.

The parade began on Avenue A South-19th Street, turned left on 3rd Avenue, right on 20th Street, left on 4th Avenue and left on 22nd Steer before making a last left turn on 1st Avenue to drop off Santa Clause at the Midtown Mall.

A total of 44 floats from various businesses, groups, organizations and sports teams joined this year’s parade that returned to the streets after being done virtually last year due to the pandemic.

Infinity Events & Décor won the Judges Choice Award with their theme taken from the popular Disney movie Frozen, with sisters Queen Elsa and Princess Anna, and their adorable snowman-friend Olaf.

PuroClean Restoration earned the People’s Choice Award with a large tree and an inflatable snowman surrounded by gifts, like a family would decorate their house.

Volunteers were also busy handing out candy canes and other treats to everyone, but the much-awaited attraction for all the kids was Santa Claus, with the man from North Pole ready to spread joy and the spirit of the Christmas season.
