Saskatoon fire dept. to hold station open houses

The public is welcome to visit SFD stations starting Sept. 14.

SASKATOON —The Saskatoon Fire Department is teaming up with The National Fire Protection Association to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 9 to 15.

Leading up to this milestone, SFD will be hosting a series of Open Houses in support of this year’s theme, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape.” The open house events will run from Sept. 14 to 27 and all are welcome to attend. 

Residents are encouraged to visit SFD stations on the following days:

Wednesday, Sept. 14
Fire Station No. 1
125 Idylwyld Drive South
6:30 to 8:00 p.m
Snacks provided by Central Urban Métis Federation Inc. (CUMFI)

Tuesday, Sept. 20
Fire Prevention Station
1906 York Avenue

Thursday, Sept. 22

6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Snacks provided by the Sudanese Community

Tuesday, Sept. 27

6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Snacks provided by the Muslim Community

Each open house will include fire engine tours, an obstacle course for kids, presentations by the fire prevention team, ethnic food provided by community organizations, fire swag and the opportunity to meet SFD members from across the department.
