Saskatoon fire responds to two suspicious garage fires

Damage was estimated at $10,000 each.

SASKATOON — Saskatoon Fire Department investigators have asked for the assistance of the Saskatoon Police Service in the investigation of two garage fires early Friday morning.

At 5:04 a.m., the SFD received a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire coming from a detached garage on the 600 block of Avenue J South.

Fire investigators were dispatched to both locations to perform a cause and origin scene examination after fire crews knocked down the fires in 40 minutes or less.

Fire investigators determined both fires to be suspicious and called SPS to each scene with their arson investigation unit conducting further investigation.

Later the same morning, at 5:59 a.m. SFD received a 9-1-1 call reporting a fence and garage on fire on the 500 block of Avenue E South.

The fire crew brought the fire under control at 6:40 a.m.

Estimated damage to both fires was $10,000 each.
