Update: Saskatoon Police rule suspicious death a homicide

A passerby found a body in an alley near 20 Street and Ave. C. Saskatoon Police are treating the death as suspicious.

Saskatoon Police were called about a body in an alley just before 1:30 p.m., Dec. 22 

Update: The suspicious death investigation into the discovery of a 50-year-old man found unresponsive in an alley near 20th Street West and Avenue C South is now the city’s 12th homicide incident and 13th homicide death of 2022. Next-of-kin notifications have been completed and police will not be releasing the victim’s name at this time.

Anyone with information or video evidence believed to be relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. In an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately.

The date in the previous release should be Dec 21, 2022.

SASKATOON - The Saskatoon Police Service, including members from Patrol, Forensic identification Section and the Major Crime Section are investigating the discovery of a body in an alley adjacent to 20th Street near Ave. C.  

Police were called to the area just before 1:30 p.m., Dec. 21 by a passerby. Police say that at this point there are very few details but they are treating the death as suspicious. 

There will be a significant police presence in the area for the next few hours. 

Saskatoon Police say more information will be released when it is available.
