Update: Saskatoon Police identify 3rd person of interest in homicide

A 21-year-old man is the city's tenth homicide victim this year.

Police are searching for 31-year-old Reagan Opoonechaw, 34-year-old Kasseigh Opoonechaw, and an unknown male.

Update 2: Saskatoon Police have identified the third suspect as 18-year-old Zennen Thomas. 

Update: Saskatoon Polce want to clarify that Kasseigh Opoonechaw, is 24-years-old and not 34 as previously released.

SASKATOON – Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section is investigating the city’s tenth homicide of 2022.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 1, police were in the area of 21st Street West and Avenue W South when they were stopped by persons travelling in a minivan to report an injured man inside.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was observed to be suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital by Medavie Heath Services West where he was pronounced deceased. Next of kin notifications have been completed and police will not be releasing the man’s name at this time.

The investigation is continuing and police are currently looking for three persons of interest who may have information to offer investigators.

Police are searching for 31-year-old Reagan Opoonechaw, 24-year-old Kasseigh Opoonechaw, and an unknown male.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Reagan Opoonechaw or Kasseigh Opoonechaw, the identity and/or whereabouts of the unknown male, or with information otherwise believed to be relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. In an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately.
