The Terriers got a warrior’s sendoff today at Dairy Queen.

A proud fan stood up to address the team before boarding the bus destined to take them to the battle against North Battleford.

“This jersey I’m wearing is from the 2014 Royal Bank Cup,” she said. It was signed by all the players.

“I know you guys are destined to be champions, and I could really use another one.”

“Mark [owner of Dairy Queen]’s going to treat the boys here before we head off to head off to the first set of games for Battleford,” said Coach Mat Hehr.

For Hehr, the plan to victory is clear.

“Play hard, continue doing what we’ve been doing. You know, we’ve had a lot of success against Nipawin and we’re playing a similar team in Battleford. They’re very good defensively. So our offense, we’re going to have to capitalize on our chances.”

It’s a bit of a drive, so the players will have some time to think about it. Still, there’s plenty of time to pass.

“Probably just play some cards, listen to music,” said right winger Colby Brandt, who had two assists in the last winning game, finishing off the Nipawin Hawks.

The Terriers play Friday and Saturday in North Battleford, returning to home ice at the Farrell Arena Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Puck drop is at 7:30.
