PREECEVILLE  -The Preeceville Walking program has kicked off for another winter season of indoor walking. Participants are encouraged to join others at the Preeceville Legion Hall every Monday,Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The program runs until the end of April.

“When you walk at a comfortably quick pace inside you get the same benefits as when you walk outdoors,” stated Jackie Blotski, one of the organizers. “There's good reason to get moving. Moderate-intensity physical activity, such as walking, reduces overall risk of death from all causes. Walking also lowers your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease and breast cancer.”

Regular walks improve health and boost the spirits of participants. Staying motivated is easier when walking with others. Indoor walking during the winter is a great way to stay physically fit in a safe environment, while taking advantage of the social aspect which adds to the fun atmosphere.
