The 2010 South East Senior Baseball League season kicked off with the Canora Supers visiting the inaugural Yorkton E & S Yankees. The Yankees are a brand new team in the established SESBL.

The league consists of seven teams including Yorkton E&S Yankees, Yorkton Junior Cardinals, Canora Supers, Willowbrook Royals, Swan River Reds, Melville Bison and the Parkland Padres. The Padres play a limited number of games and do not place in the standings.

The Yankees came up short in their first ever game losing to the Canora Supers 8-1. Winning pitcher was Derek Palagian and while Yankee starter pitcher Kurtis Chupa took the loss he tossed a very solid game giving up only two earned runs in a six-run first inning for the Supers. He struck out five while giving up three walks and hitting one batter while surrendering five hits during his tenure on the mound. Tyrel Thorpe came on in relief allowing two earned runs on one strike out, two walks and two hits

Yankee history was made when Ryan Neal belted the teams first ever hit, Mackenzie Unyi scored their first ever run and Tyrel Thorpe batted in their first RBI.

Unyi also went 1-2 at the plate with a walk, Garrett Karcha was 1-3, Kurt Karcha 2-3, Thorpe went 1-3 with a stolen base and Ryan Neal had two hits and a stolen base. The Yankees stranded 10 men on base. Their next game is tonight at 6:15 p.m., when the Bison come to town.

Next game for the Yankees is Wednesday, May 19th against the Melville Bison 6:15 p.m., at Jubilee Park.
