For a good two-and-a-half days over the Family Day holiday weekend, the population of the City of Yorkton seems to grow a little bit more.

Rather than having only one jam-packed parking lot on the Saturday morning each year, there are more like five jam-packed parking lots.

That's because Darren Wandy and friends do what it takes to bring the teams that come from all over the central/western provinces into Yorkton to Yorkton to participate in the Bongo Volleyball tournament. This year, 27 teams made the trip. At least one men's team drove themselves from Edmonton. The McSweeney Selects girls team didn't have far to drive, and there was at least one team made up of a handful of local high school students. Wandy said the tournament keeps getting better.

This year's featured a women's A class, and B class. Games were held at the Yorkton Regional High School on two different courts.

The Gloria Hayden Centre held games in the women's B class, both St. Michael's and MC Knoll saw their share of volleyball players, and Dr. Brass joined in the fun.

Altogether, six courts were used over three different facilities. Teams included: Entourage, Burger Smash, Bongo 18s, Sleezy Bandeezeez, Thunder Creek, Team Tetz, Dauphin Dig, Moobosh, The Assortment, Battleford Ballistic, Dirty Duostaches, DTWAVP and Turkey Lurkey making up the men's divisions.

Women's A class included: Mixed Nuts, McSweeney's Selects, Club Boom, Eclipse, Tsunami Breakers and Serves You Right. The B class was: Kiss My Pass, Safe Sets, Olympia Fitness, Southeast Swingers, Gonzo Compadres, Ball Crushers, Notorious D.I.G and Spike Punch.
