Charity Road Race a success

On Sunday, August 21, the Yorkton Health Foundation’s tenth annual Charity Road Race and Community Walk took place out of the Yorkton Regional High School parking lot. The total amount raised this year was $34, 735.

More than 250 runners took part in this year’s Health Foundation Charity Road Race on August 21, raising $34,735.

On Sunday, August 21, the Yorkton Health Foundation’s  tenth annual Charity Road Race and Community Walk took place out of the Yorkton Regional High School parking lot.

The total amount raised this year was $34, 735. All funds raised will go towards new monitoring equipment for the Intensive Care Unit in the Regional Hospital.

Top fundraisers of the year were Russ Thompson, who raised $2,135; Dave Matichuk, who raised $1,610; the Surjik family, who raised $1,210; Tracy Newton, raising $1,135; and, Adele Pask, who raised $1,050.

The Charity Road Race included races with distances ranging from two kilometers up to a half marathon (21km).  

A total of 267 people took place in this year’s road race.

The winner of the junior two kilometre race was Nicholas Laskowski with a time of 13:26.

The winner of the five kilometre race in the men’s division was Shawn McLean with a time of 17:12, and in the women’s division was Hannah Walker with a time of 21:40.

The winner of the ten kilometre race in the men’s division was Michael Middlemiss with a time of 35:54 and in the women’s division was Brooke Mentanko with a time of 39:57.

The winner of the half-marathon (21 km) race in the men’s division was Keith Inmerker with a time of 1:24:26, and for the women’s division was Carrie Grant-Walker with a time of 1:38:46.
