The Outlook Ice Hawks are looking to keep up their momentum and hopefully come away from the 2016/17 hockey season with some hardware after taking Round One of the SVHL playoffs with a clean sweep over the Kenaston Blizzard.
The Hawks had been leading the series at 2-0 before they motored to Kenaston on Wednesday night, February 8 to face the hosting team; Outlook defeated them at 8-3 in Game 1 on February 1, followed up two nights later with a 4-2 win at home.
Back on their home ice, it was the Blizzard who had everything to prove, and they showed tenacity when they were able to match what Outlook was dishing out. By the time the third period came around, the score was tied at three apiece. But that number had to change eventually for one squad, and when it did just a few minutes in, it was the Ice Hawks who had scored. For the rest of the game, it was a fiercely-contested battle for control of the puck and a fight from Kenaston over some desperately-needed momentum.
Unfortunately for the Blizzard, Outlook kept up its winning ways and made it a clean sweep of the first round in the series, winning at a score of 4-3.
Goals scored by Kenaston were made by #18 Eric Peterson (2) and #15 Rhett Kehoe. Goals scored by Outlook were made by #24 Justin Bernhardt (2), #85 Ryan Husband, and #90 Steven Lee.
In Round Two of playoff action, the Hawks are set to be matched against the Kyle Elks, who upended the Elrose Aces in a 3-0 sweep of their own.
