The Brad Knutson rink of Norquay topped the ninth annual Benito mixed bonspiel that was held at the Benito Rec Centre February 9 to 14.

A total of 30 teams from around the Swan Valley and from the bordering Saskatchewan communities came together to compete in four events, said Leigh Osatchuk of the Benito recreation board.

The week of activities consisted of two home games for the Kenville Flyers hockey team, free public skating throughout the week, Zumba classes on the Wednesday, lounge entertainment on Saturday, a Lucky Draw Auction, a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning, which was hosted by the Benito Childcare Centre, and a Saturday night sit-down banquet for all curlers and company. There was “a fabulous ‘pick-a-prize’ event for the lucky event winners.

“We thank all our sponsors and donors, and everyone who came out to watch some curling,” Osatchuk said.

Kim Pierce presented the Swan Valley Credit Union trophy to the Brad Knutson rink of Norquay, which was the first event winner of the Benito mixed bonspiel. Curling with Knutson, the skip, were: Richard Johnston, third; John Knutson, second, and Vi Knutson, lead.

Knutson had defeated the Neil Watkins rink of Swan River.
