Norquay’s two ball diamonds were the scene of an eight-team slo-pitch tournament on August 8.

The day kicked off with a pancake breakfast and concessions were open all day. Two bouncy structures were set up for the children. The day brought big crowds to cheer on the young and old who came home to participate.

The finals were played at the first ball diamond with the Skeeters defeating the MRCs in the A-side final and the Divas, Achievas and Believas took the B event beating out the Massey Ferguson 860s

The tournament was a perfect opportunity to show off the updates and improvements that have been done at the sports grounds, organizers said. Two dugouts had been constructed and covered with tin at the main ball diamond along with over 200 feet of new fencing.

The updates were possible due to donations received and the many volunteer hours from the Norquay Co-op, the Town of Norquay, the Norquay Kin Club, and the MRC ball team and because of individuals who had volunteered their own time.
