Peewee Cobras end season in second game of best-of-three series against Grenfell

The Canora Peewee Cobras travelled to face the Grenfell Spitfires on March 12 in Game 2 of a best-of-three series for the C final in the Major Hockey League.

During the Canora Peewee Cobras second game against the Grenfell Spitfires on March 12, Matthew Dmitruik and Hayden Strelioff were on defence, while Randi Foster and Codee Kopelchuk were on wing as Taye Shukin (AP) faced off against the Spitfires. On the bench, from left were: Kevin Lewchuk (trainer), Keegan Dyck (AP), Logan Wolkowski, Jaxson Lindgren, Dwayne Wolkowski (head coach), Rylen Lukey, Logan Lewchuk, Jake Statchuk, Brian Statchuk (assistant coach) and Porter Wolkowski (AP). Cole Marcinkoski was in net for the game.

The first period was very evenly matched and the teams headed to the dressing room scoreless.

Taye Shukin (AP) scored in the second period to tie the game at one with assists from Randi Foster and Codee Kopelchuk. Grenfell followed up with two goals so that heading into the second intermission, the score was 3-1.

Jake Statchuk scored at 9:59 of the third period with an assist from Taye Shukin (AP), making it 3-2 for Grenfell. Logan Wolkowski kept the momentum going 20 seconds later, tying the game at three with an assist from Hayden Strelioff.

The peewees fought hard and were tied 3-3 when Grenfell scored with 1:42 left in the third period to end their season with a 4-3 loss.
