The Yorkton Minor Football Association is proud to present Football Night in Saskatchewan. Each year, the YMFA hosts a banquet night in order to raise money to meet the ever-increasing costs of buying football equipment for the players.

Each year, the YMFA hosts a banquet night in order to raise money to meet the ever-increasing costs of buying football equipment for the players. This year's banquet has already sold out, reports Roby Sharpe, YMFA president. It is scheduled for Saturday May 14 at the St. Mary's Cultural Centre. Sharpe said that part of the day's festivities will also include a meet-and-greet at the Western Financial Park (located across from Liquidation World). From 12 noon until 2 p.m., football fans and their families are encouraged to help celebrate the day. Coming to Yorkton for the celebration include current Roughrider Wes Cates and Hamilton Tiger-Cat Jordan Matechuk. Anyone wishing more information in regard to May 14 is invited to contact Sharpe at 786-5560.


There will be two badminton tournaments held at the Yorkton Regional High School. On May 7 (Saturday), the East Central Districts will be held. Head coach Zian Nowosad of the YRHS junior badminton team said there was junior districts scheduled for last night, however results were not available in time for press.


The Health Foundation's Charity Road Race will be holding preparatory clinics three days per week in preparation for this year's Charity Road Race. Clinics will look at the basics of running, stretching and nutrition. The clinics will begin on May 10 in the parking lot of the Yorkton Regional High School. Anyone wishing or planning to compete in this year's Road Race is welcome and encouraged, to take part in the clinics. See details on Page C3. The Yorkton Minor Football Association is currently accepting applications for its tackle football season. The league is for players in Gr. 6-7. The cost is $40 for the season. Anyone wishing more information can contact Roby Sharpe at 786-5560. Practices will be starting soon he said.
