The Sturgis Elementary School cross-country team and their older counterparts in the Composite High School each had a very successful season with four main meets through the season.

The season ended for the elementary runners at the district meet in Yorkton on October 9. Cole Masley placed sixth overall in the squirt boys category and Kaiden Masley placed fourth in the sneaker boys category. Many others ran their personal best times.

“There were 20 dedicated students who met every lunch hour, spending time training and focusing on their personal best,” said Carla Olson. “Each student gave his or her very best effort and many accomplished their personal best times.”

In the SCHS, Bo Babiuk placed second; Jalen Bayer, sixth; Cole Kowalchuk, third and Rhianna Olson, fourth. Each student advanced to provincials in Saskatoon on October 17. Shanae Olson would have also advanced since she placed second but she was not old enough to attend provincials.
