Sturgis students do well at cross-country meets

Runners from both the Sturgis Composite High and the Sturgis Junior Elementary schools brought home medals from the three cross-country meets held in the area. Cherry dale meet was held September 9; York City, September 14; and Saltcoats.

Kaiden Masley placed first overall in the Cherrydale cross-country meet

and third in the York City. Cole Masley placed eighth at the York City meet. Both students are from Sturgis Elementary School.
Runners at the SCHS who placed in the top 10 in the York City meet were: Shanae Olson first in the peewee girls category, Zane Bayer, first in the bantam boys and Jalen Bayer, third in the midget boys division.

At the Saltcoats meet, Shanae Olson placed second; Zane Bayer, third; and Rhianna Olson, fifth in the senior girls division.
“There are 20 dedicated runners from grades 2 to 5 who practice daily, work hard to improve their fitness level and have fun,” said Carla Olson, coach.

The next meet is Districts on October 8.
