Terriers drop SJ contest to front-running Bruins

YORKTON - The Yorkton Terriers headed into Estevan Wednesday evening to face the Bruins who they trailed by 16 points in the SJHL Viterra Division.

And, on this night the Terriers were not up to surprising the front running Bruins.

It took the host team only 42 seconds to take the lead thanks to a short-handed effort by Keagon Little.

Ilia Chmelevski scored a powerplay marker at 5:24 to make it 2-0.

Aiden Knutson scored at 11:43 to put the Terriers on the board.

The Bruins truck quick again in the second period, an unassisted effort by Gabriel Filion 19 seconds in, to make it 3-1 Bruins.

The Terriers again cut the lead to one as a Dylan Ruptash goal at the 50-second mark.

Flion would be back to make it 4-2 as he added a powerplay effort at 8:25 of the middle frame.

In the third period the Bruins again scored first, a goal by Salvatore Collora at 6:42.

Pavel Mckenzie would reply for the Terriers at 16:26 to make it 5-3, but that would prove to be the final score.

Caleb Allen took the loss in the Terrier net facing 33 shots, while Jackson Miller had the win for Estevan facing 31.

Next action for Yorkton has them hosting Weyburn.
