Three KEE's Tae Kwon Do students are preparing to spend the next seven days honing their skill in Hamburg, Germany.
For the fourth time, the German Tae Kwon Do Federation is able to host the German Open 2011 in the city of Hamburg.
The German Open is being recognized for the second time as WTF G1-Tournament.
As part of the 2011 German Open, Matthew Bodnaryk, Rae Ashcroft and Autumn Ashcroft will be in Hamburg until March the 14.
Each of them is looking forward to the experience of fighting against some of the top competitors from all over the world.
They fly out of Regina and into Toronto before heading to Europe for a week's stay in Hamburg.
It's an annual invitational tournament, says Master Wayne Mitchell who is taking the three students with him.
He said it will be a good opportunity to see where each of them stands in comparison to others who practice the same art around the world.
"It's a testing for the level they're capable of," before adding that they "probably won't get to see much of Germany" likely because they will be practicing, eating and sleeping when they aren't competing.
Bodnaryk told the paper a week or so before leaving that it was a decision between Hamburg and Austin, Texas, and at least for him, it wasn't much of a choice at least based on the quality of the competition.
"It was either Austin or Hamburg (Germany)," he said, suggesting that he's much more looking forward to heading to the European nation.
"The competition at the German Open is much bigger. I am going to try and push myself harder," he added.Autumn Ashcroft will be heading over with her sister Rae, said it will be a good chance "to see how the world fights" and that she's "hoping to learn a lot".
