A girls team from the Yorkton Regional High School and a boys team from Saltcoats topped the district junior curling competition held at the Broda Sportsplex in Kamsack January 29 and 30.
A team of Kelly Cole, Emily McClenaghan, Brenna Wuydrich and Kendra Audette of the Yorkton Regional High School’s Raiders team took home the gold medal, while a team of Jessica Farquharson, Karlee Sidoryk, Mya Lauer and Katelyn Farquharson of the Saltcoats Mustangs took home the silver medal.
The bronze medal went to the Sacred Heart Saints of Yorkton, comprised of Ashley Schrader, Mia Cottenie, Cattlin Haas, Tess Jendrasheske and Tamara Butchko.
On the boys side, Gregor Farquharson, Sean Easton, Jordon Harvey, Jaden Collins and Tristin Hutchings of the Saltcoats Mustangs won the gold medal.
The silver medal went to the Preeceville Panthers team comprised of James Dodge, Keegan Bilanchuk, Braden McLean, Conner Finkeryk and Eric Dodge. The Yorkton Regional team of Auston Derbowka, Bryan Jones, Andrew Yeadon and Amogh Tripathy won bronze.
Other competitors included: the Churchbridge Chargers, comprised of Amber Debnam, Jessica Groeneveld, Jessica Revet and Madison Kaeding; the Esterhazy Warriors, Shae-Lynn Forster, Carlie Moore, Taegan Kuntz, Elshie Ferguson and Teasa Morrison; Melville Cobras, Janelle Dales, April Cook, Ashlyn Kormos and Desiree Rutten; Sacred Heart Saints (boys team) comprised of Kelton Chyz, Jaxon McLeod, Carson Wardle and Jett Stechyshyn; Stockholm Vikings comprised of Cam Chern, Byers Johanson, Colby Nagy and Colby Johnson; the Sturgis Trojans comprised of Sierra Meroniuk, Audrey Vargas, Mikayla Gregory, Allison Peterson and Allyssa Mirva and Zanthany Olson, Camron Secundiak, Daniell Mirvba, Keanu Albarracin and Hunter Mirva.
Members of the host team, the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute Spartans, are: Koryssa Woloshyn, Kiera Kitsch, Keanna Romaniuk, Sadie McGriskin, Savannah Zielinski, Anna Schwartz, Chloe Koroluk, Conner Bodnaryk, Zach Chernoff, Curtis McGriskin and Zach Zbeetnoff.
