Yorkton Terriers shut out on home ice Saturday

Up next the Terriers host Nipawin Tuesday, then wrap up their regular season with a visit to Melville March 15, with the teams meeting in Yorkton March 16.

Yorkton gave up two first period goals to Kindersley Saturday.

YORKTON - As the SJHL regular season winds down the Yorkton Terriers need wins if they want a playoff spot.

Saturday the Terriers hosted Kindersley at the Westland Insurance Arena in a huge game for both teams.

The Klippers started things as Kale Taylor scored an unassisted marker at 3:03.

Logan Linklater made it 2-0 with a goal at 8:18.

Kindersley celebrated a third goal on the powerplay but it was taken off the scoreboard as officials ruled it had been knocked into the net with a high stick.

The 2-0 lead held into the second period.

Linklater added his second of the contest at 15:09 of the middle stanza to make it 3-0.

And, with a scoreless third frame the Klippers would take a 3-0 win home to Kindersley.

Ethan Farrow was in goal for Yorkton facing 18-shots in the loss.

The Klippers had countered with Logan Falk guarding the twine for a 27-shot shut-out.

With the loss the Terriers remained with 46 points points after 53 games, still last in the Viterra Division, four back of Weyburn with 50 points, but the Red Wings have played four less games than Yorkton.
