Dear Editor,
On May 19, 2014, the Yorkton Terriers played the Carleton Place Canadiens in the Royal Bank Cup Gold Medal Game. After 60 minutes of regulation and 15 minutes and 1 second of overtime, Yorkton could rightfully claim that they were the best Junior A team in all of Canada! Those were heady times.
Unfortunately, that’s the last play-off game we’ll have played in 664 days. Fortunately, the drought is over. We are back in the play-offs. We don’t know where. We don’t know who. We do know we’ll play someone on March 11.
I do know there are people out there who say, “this is just a Survivor Series. I’ll come when the play-offs start”. Last I looked, the first round is a best of 5, loser is eliminated. Sounds like a play-off series to me. Maybe drop in and see for yourself.
Who knows how we’ll do? We could be fine or maybe we’re not quite ready. I do know that live entertainment is better than sitting in front of any screen, any day of the week.
Hopefully, see you at the rink!
