Christmas concert to start the season

Christmas concert to assist refugee resettlement
carols-and-candlelight

OUTLOOK - A night of Christmas music is in store as performers present “Carols & Candlelight” at the beginning of December in a concert featuring choirs, soloists, hand bells and instrumentalists, along with readings and carol singing.

Musicians and singers will present Christmas favourites at Bethlehem Lutheran Church amidst the glow of candlelight, in a night that will also serve as a fundraiser for the Outlook Refugee Resettlement Fund.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in partnership with Bethel Church in Elbow, and supported by other churches and the community, assisted in bringing families out of a refugee camp last December after they fled Afghanistan for fear of their lives. Now an effort is underway to reunite family members that got separated from one another and were unable to leave the country at the same time.

The families are hoping the others might be able to join them here soon. They are eagerly taking part in the “Carols & Candlelight” concert so the audience will have a chance to hear them present favourite music as well.

There are many steps involved in resettling refugees including filing applications, securing documents, and putting a resettlement plan in place. The effort requires significant funding so this concert gives the community an opportunity to be involved in the process with a freewill offering.

The concert, which takes place the first Sunday of Advent will be a great kick-off to the season with its focus on music, readings, and a chance to give to others.

Everyone is invited to come and enjoy sights and sounds of the season in “Carols & Candlelight”, Sunday, December 3, 7:00 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Outlook.
