'Country on Ice’ theme of this year’s carnival

The Preeceville Figure Skating Club concluded its season with a ice carnival.

PREECEVILLE - The Preeceville Skating Arena was alive with excitement as the members of the Preeceville Figure Skating Club took to the ice in their ice carnival on March 27. The carnival showcased the talent and hard work done through the season of the 43-plus students. The theme for the carnival was “Country on Ice” and featured skaters performing to a variety of country melodies.

Heather Tunbridge-Jaeb was the head coach of the club with program assistants helping through the season. Assistants were: Kiera Balyski, Mia Mitchell, Camryn Nelson, Paje Reynolds, Layla Jaeb, Mollie Jaeb, Seth Reynolds, Trenley Nelson, Macey Mitchell and Ripley Pristie.

Laura Slivia had the responsibility to introduce each skater as they took to the ice for their performances. Candace Kuta was the music coordinator.

Doughnuts and coffee and cream were served at intermission in memory of Jane Korney who had been a great mentor to the skaters.

Star skaters who were first on the ice performing to Ready, Set, Roll, were: Kiera Balyski, Mia Mitchell, Camryn Nelson, Paje Reynolds, Layla Jaeb, Mollie Jaeb, Seth Reynolds, Trenley Nelson, Macey Mitchell and Ripley Pristie.

Stage four skaters who performed to Wagon Wheel were: Arianna Neilson, Freya Sandager, Kate Grasparil, Naomi Nguyen and Alex Algabre.

Adley Ward and Mackenna Firman were stage six skaters who performed two duets to Country Girl and That Don’t Impress Me Much.

Blake Beatty and Jaxson Rubletz skated a stage three performance to Should Have Been a Cowboy.

Ripley Pristie skated the first solo to Body Like a Backroad.

The youngest skaters, stage one and two, skating to Fishing in the Dark and Big Green Tractor, were: Rayna Blotski, Sawyer Salisbury, Stetson Chekowy, Georgia Van Nieuwenhuyze, Wyatt Algabre, Avery Storoschuk and Ayda Morton-Blender.

Stage five skaters who performed two acts, one to the music of Dibs and to Man, I Feel Like a Women were: Cruz Jaeb, Sage Ward, Athina Rubletz, Briley Friday, Lily Beatty, Kelsey Olson, Blakley Firman, Jilliane Barnachea and Jillaine Barnachea. Kaleigh Meberg was absent from the skate.

Stage three skaters who skated to Gone Country were: Charlette Gulka, Josie Moekerk, Sophia Nguyen and Chloe Viacrucis. Avaya Meberg was absent from the performance.

Paje Reynolds skated a solo to Chillin’ It.

Ryder Thideman, a stage four skater, performed a solo to Sold.

Layla Jaeb skated to Cruise, the last solo prior to intermission.

After intermission, guest skaters, Amrie Seerey and Myrandah Gagnon from the Sturgis Figure Skating Club skated to Dynamite.

Camryn Nelson skated a solo to Cowboy, Take Me Away.

Macey Mitchell and Seth Reynolds skated a duet to Fancy Like.

Stage four skaters, Arianna Neilson, Freya Sandager, Kate Grasparil, Naomi Nguyen, Alex Algabre and Ryder Thideman skated to Chattahoochee.

Mollie Jaen skated a solo to Should Have Said No.

Mia Mitchell skated a solo performance to Us Someday.

Trenley Nelson and Ripley Pristie skated a duet to AA.

Kiera Balyski skate a graceful solo to the music of Crazy Girl.

Stage three skaters who skated to Cheap Skates were: Charlette Gulka, Josie Moekerk, Sophia Nguyen, Chloe Viacrucis, Blake Beatty and Jaxson Rubletz. Avaya Meberg was absent from the performance.

The grand finale was performed by all the skaters and their coach Heather Tunbridge-Jaeb to God’s Country.
