Minor hockey day featured Preeceville teams

Players showcase their talents during hockey day.

PREECEVILLE - The Preeceville Skating Arena was a busy centre as hockey teams took their turns in action during Minor Hockey Day on Jan. 21.

The youngest team, the U7, was the first team on the ice as they took on the Kelvington Wheat Kings. “There was no recorded score as at this age level we focus on fun, learning and building on the fundamental skills,” said Dean Serdachny, coach.

The Preeceville U9 hockey team faced off against the Yorkton U9 Outta Here Travel Terriers, an exciting game that ended in 9-8 win in overtime for Preeceville.

The U11 team played an intersquad scrimmage game among themselves.

The Preeceville U13 team faced off against Swan River U13 Stampeders with devastating results, ending in a 21-0 loss for Preeceville. The following day, on January 22, they U13 team defeated Cote Selects in a home game with a final score of 10-4.

The Highway 9 Predators U15 team recorded a loss against Swan Valley with a 4-2 final score.

The day of hockey concluded with the U18 facing a rough, challenging game against the Whitewood U18 Elks that ended in a win for Preeceville with a  8-2 score. Scoring for Preeceville were: Kaiden Masley (three), Trae Peterson (three), Bronson Heshka and Brody Shankowsky. Assists were by: Jace Vogel, Dixon Paul, Mason Babiuk, Briel Beblow and Bronson Heshka.

There were multiple raffles that were drawn throughout the day.
