Pinoy Festival celebrated in Yorkton

The event also coincides with the harvest period in the Philippines, so it is a time of thanksgiving as well.

YORKTON - It was a day of smiles and celebrations for the Filipino community of East Central Saskatchewan as the Parkland Filipino-Canadian Association Corp hosted its annual Pinoy Festival at the Yorkton Regional High School in Yorkton Saturday.

The festival is traditionally held in June or July and holding it at this time the day also celebrates Independence Day in the Philippines which is June 12.

The event also coincides with the harvest period in the Philippines, so it is a time of thanksgiving as well.

The day included plenty of fantastic food and an afternoon of cultural entertainment.
