Scottish football coach heads camp in Yorkton

35 athletes participated.

YORKTON – Scott Murchison of the Rangers Football Club was in Yorkton from the week of August 15-19 for the Rangers FC Soccer Camp.

“Scott's down from Rangers FC, so Glasgow Rangers, one of the top teams in Scotland,” said Mike Jakubiec, Technical Coordinator for Yorkton United Football Club, adding, “he works with the International Soccer School, so he's down for a week working with our U15-17 group – he worked in the morning with the U11-13s.”

Jukubiec said Murchinson spent the week working with different age groups from YUFC.

Jakuibiec said there were 35 kids at the camp with five of the participants coming from Swift Current to partake in the camp.

This is the Rangers' second visit to the city for their soccer camp.

“We've sent teams to Scotland before and this is their second time back,” said Jakubiec, noting that it was their initial trip to Scotland that made for the connection to make camps like this happen.

Jakubiec said they were hoping to hold these camps annually.

“It's a good opportunity for kids to hear a different voice and get some quality coaching,” said Jakubiec.
