Yorkton Minor Football to host Football Night in Sask. April 30th

Former CFL player set to speak

YORKTON – Yorkton Minor Football will hold their annual Football Night in Saskachewan on Satuday, April 30th at the St. Mary's Cultural Centre.

"It's to raise funds to buy equipment for minor football," said Darcy Zaharia, Treasurer and Vice-President for YMF.

The fundraising night has been happening since 2007 and Zaharia said YMF wants to keep it rolling.

"We've probably raised anywhere from 10 to 15 thousand a year," said Zaharia.

The night features silent auctions, live music from a local adult jazz band, as well as guest speakers.

"Our main guest speaker is J.R. LaRose," said Zaharia.

LaRose was a safety in the CFL for nine years who played for the Edmonton Elks and BC Lions throughtout his career.

"He's a really fantastic speaker," said Zaharia.

Also in attendance to speak at the event will be YMF alum and offensive linesmen Peter Kozushka of the University of Alberta's Golden Bears football team and Noah Zerr of the University of Saskatchewan's Huskies.

"Both of them are in the CFL draft this year," said Zaharia.

Tickets for the event are available by contacting YMF through e-mail or their coaching staff.
