Update: RCMP make second arrest in death of Cory Papequash

KEY FIRST NATION — Update: RCMP Major Crimes has arrested 35-year-old Jeffrey Kayseas in the 2022 death of 51-year-old Cory Papequash of The Key First Nation.

Kayseas, from Fishing Lake First Nation, is charged with first-degree murder.

Kayseas appeared in Regina Provincial Court on March 28.

A Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes investigation has resulted in the arrest of 32-year-old Natashia Marie Keshane on March 22, and a charge of first-degree murder. She made her first appearance in Yorkton Provincial Court on March 25.

The victim is 51-year-old Cory Papequash of The Key First Nation.

Investigation began on Oct. 23, 2022, when, at approximately 5 a.m., Kamsack RCMP received a report of a firearms discharge at a residence on The Key First Nation.

The responding officers located an injured male in the residence. He was pronounced deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 51-year-old male from The Key First Nation. His family was notified and were offered Victim Services. RCMP did not release the victim’s name at that time.

Kamsack RCMP, Yorkton RCMP Forensic Identification Services, RCMP Historical Crimes Unit and the Regina Provincial RCMP General Investigation Section all assisted with the initial investigation.
