La Ronge RCMP nab convicted killer wanted on Canada-wide warrant

LA RONGE – Convicted killer Joch Pouk, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for violating his parole by being unlawfully at large, was arrested during a traffic stop by La Ronge RCMP on Sept. 20.  

In April 2022, Calgary Police Service had posted the warrant for Pouk, now 30, on social media. He was out on parole after being convicted of manslaughter in the 2013 death of Lukas Strasser-Hird. Pouk was one of several men who swarmed Strasser-Hird at a Calgary night club, beating and stabbing him to death. Three other men were convicted.

In the vehicle, La Ronge RCMP located and seized about 194 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a large sum of Canadian currency. 

Nhial Hoth, 28, from Saskatoon and Sheldon Primeau, 30, from La Ronge were also arrested. Primeau is also charged with failing to comply with a recognizance.

All three are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime. They appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Sept. 21.
