Man accused of house theft returns to Melfort court

Stolen house was loaded on a trailer ready for transport.

MELFORT – A Codette man accused of stealing a house had another appearance Monday in Melfort Provincial Court and the matter was adjourned to March 6.

Matthew Malley, 32, was arrested after Tisdale RCMP got a call on June 14, 2022, about a house – that was loaded on a trailer ready for transport – was stolen from Crooked River.

Police say that an altercation occurred between Malley and the owner of the house the day after the house theft.

Malley was charged with theft under $5,000, uttering threats, and assault with a weapon.

RCMP say the house was found about a month later in the Nipawin RCMP detachment area on July 26.
