New court date for 2022 child porn case

Defence granted adjournment to Sept. 6.

REGINA – A new court date has been set for one Regina man facing a child pornography charge.

Steven John Pearce, 54, was arrested last October after an investigation by the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

“On Oct. 17 (2022), members of the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Regina that was identified as the location where the offences were occurring,” said Saskatoon Police Service in a media release. “Electronic devices were seized for further forensic analysis.”

Pearce was charged with one count possession of child pornography on Dec. 13, 2022, and received a conditional release from custody.

The matter came up briefly in Regina Provincial Court today, with Pearce’s lawyer asking for a further adjournment to Sept. 6.

The ICE Unit is made up of members from various provincial policing entities, including the RCMP, RPS, SPS and Prince Albert Police Service.
