Police break Saskatoon drug ring

Home, vehicles, large amount of cash seized; three arrested for trafficking coke and meth.

SASKATOON – Police have made a substantial dent in disrupting drug activity in the city after an investigation in the works for more than a year.

“In October of 2021, police initiated an investigation after learning of a large-scale operation in which cocaine and methamphetamine was being trafficked,” SPS explained in a media release. The investigation culminated in search warrants being executed on four properties in the city.

“On Jan. 5, the Crime Reduction Team, with support from the Criminal Investigations Division and Tactical Support Unit, executed search warrants on four properties - one in the 1200 block of 10th Street East, one in 500 block of Hamm Crescent, and two in the 900 block of Kristjanson Road,” SPS said.

From those searches, police seized one of the properties (valued at $700,000), discovered around $79,000 in cash; vehicles including a Mercedes-Benz CLA250, an Acura ILX, a Nissan Rogue; jewelry; financial documents; and drug paraphernalia.

A man and a woman, both 33, were arrested without incident at the Kristjanson Road residence. A second man, also 33, was also arrested at a business in the 400 block of Second Avenue South.

The trio are facing charges including trafficking, conspiracy to trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, and operating as a criminal organization.

The investigation continues, and police anticipate further charges may be laying in this matter.
