Lloydminster RCMP arrested Michael Hill on Wednesday. He was wanted for being unlawfully at large. He was previously arrested after an Alberta RCMP officer was injured following a police pursuit in 2021.

LLOYDMINSTER, Sask. – A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large was arrested after Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) officers saw him enter a home in the city on Wednesday.

Lloydminster RCMP GIS members, Lloydminster Police Dog Services, Lloydminster RCMP, as well as Kitscoty RCMP, evacuated several nearby homes because they believed 25-year-old Michael Patrick Hill may have had a firearm.

Police secured the residence in the 4300 block of 32 Street in Lloydminster. Several people exited the home and were arrested but one male remained inside and refused to come out. Several hours later, he exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

During a search of Hill, Lloydminster RCMP GIS found more than an ounce of cocaine and an ounce of methamphetamine. He was charged with drug trafficking.

Hill appeared before a Justice of the Peace for a judicial interim release hearing and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance in Saskatchewan Provincial Court on Nov. 21.

Hill, of Onion Lake Cree Nation, had been arrested in January 2021 after taking RCMP on a high-speed chase. That incident started in Vermillion, about 60 kilometres west of Lloydminster, after a suspect allegedly pointed a gun at a person on Jan. 19, 2021, say RCMP. The suspects involved fled Vermillion in a black SUV, which police located about an hour later on Highway 21 south of Fort Saskatchewan near Township Road 542 close to Edmonton.

An RCMP vehicle pursuing the black SUV went in the ditch and rolled near Range Road 540. A second RCMP vehicle was able to stop the SUV near Township Road 534. One RCMP officer was taken to hospital, treated for minor injuries and released. Hill was wanted on outstanding warrants in that incident as well.
